Death's Call

Close to death's touch, I craved its peace
A respite from the pain, a sweet release
Eternal escape from life's endless pain
An end to suffering; a beckoning refrain

For a moment, death's call, a siren song
Promised to free me from a world so wrong
An enticing melody of a quiet place
Sweet and symphonic, this tempting embrace

Amidst the struggle, I heard another tune
Beyond the pain, from life's fabric it's hewn
Learning, growing, each moment's precious gift
In life's tangled offering, my spirits lift

Time enough for that final song's cold grasp
When it's time to rest, with that eternal gasp
For now, let me savor life's vibrant fight
Its symphony of joy, pain, laughter, and light
