Summer's Respite
In the fiery grip of day, where shadows fray,
I wander, lost in the heat's disarray.
The world is bathed in relentless fire,
Each breath a chore, a struggle dire.
Humidity clings, an unwanted friend,
In this realm where endurance must contend.
People laugh behind glass walls,
Oblivious to the struggle that enthralls.
But I find solace in a place I know,
A haven where cool air does flow.
The blessed chill of air-conditioning greets,
As my weary soul retreats.
In this dance with the heat and strife,
I walk, a testament to my struggle rife.
For every stagger, every slurred line,
I seek the strength to let my smile shine.
