Unrequited

I waved to a friend with a grin so wide,
But alas, she missed it, on the other side.

My enthusiasm soared, a cheerful display,
Her oblivious stroll, my wave went astray.

A dance of the hand, a friendly hello,
Lost in the breeze, like leaves on the go.

I chuckled to myself, in this whimsical play,
The unnoticed wave, on that breezy day.
