I ended up having some amazing food yesterday.

I spent a few hours in the neighborhood around St. John's and Cameron Rd. Yesterday. I had some amazing tacos de tripa. There was a lot more open staring than I'm used to but I met some very kind souls there as well. Unfortunately none of them spoke English, so our conversations were sadly utilitarian. Still, humor is universal. I saw more people whose lives have, or are close to, being taken over by drugs than in other places in Austin.

I saw a woman who reminded me of many other women I've seen throughout my life… usually around bus stops but never taking the bus. They are often mistaken for prostitutes, sometimes they are, and always seem to me to be on the edge of complete ruin. I've written this to try and describe the type of person.

At the beginning of the week, I heard Reverend Matt said something that confused me, so I asked Vinny about it… Before becoming a Sherriff’s Deputy, Vinny was a Catholic Priest until he fell in love with a woman he calls Ruby. Well, I wrote a poem about that conversation.
