I went down a mental rabbit hole this morning...

Let me first say that I no longer have the capacity to manage the math it would take to define and invalidate what I’m writing here, so this is all just fiction.

I started with the idea that time seems tightly coupled with energy. I tried to visualize this in a few different ways, but removing a dimension and assuming we lived in Flatland sent me down a rabbit hole.

So, we live as 2D people in a 2D universe say, on the skin of a sphere (a huge and unfounded assumption). How would we experience the skin itself?

We have freedom to move in every dimension: up, down, left, and right but, no matter which direction we moved, we were also forced to move “down” in some abstract sense that we could possibly measure, but never really feel. What would 3D waves look like to us? They could very well look like swirling or spiraling balls of energy (the energy being from the rise in the 3rd dimension, which we might be able to measure, but couldn’t really feel). It is possible that we would experience this sphere’s skin as some sort of background radiation, or field of some sort.

I offer no proof whatsoever, but I might strive to relearn the math (if/when I’m capable of tracking multiple or complex thoughts) but is it possible that light is just a 4D wave in what we call the Higgs field, and this field describes a 4D sphere, with all matter stuck in it’s “skin”?

I’m under no delusions that this could be very quickly disproven, or shown to be so vague as to be meaningless, by a physicist, or non-brain-damaged mathematician, but its fun to think about.
